Please put Ecofest on your calendar, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, March 25, at Racine Gateway campus. Zero Waste will have a table as part of Greening Greater Racine. If anyone would like to volunteer an hour or two of their time please to help staff
the table, please contact Dave Backmann,
[email protected]. We also will be surveying folks there on how they feel about starting a pilot food waste composting program in Racine. See you there! In 2015, GGR established a partnership with Gateway Technical College to hold a community festival. Each year in March, GGR and GTC host an environmental festival for the public featuring over 50 displays by environmental groups, presentations on sustainability, children’s activities, and an Eco-Art display. In-person EcoFests have drawn upwards of a 1000 people.
There was no festival in 2020. In 2021, there was a successful virtual event. And we returned to in-person for 2022. GGR leaders include Sister Janet Weyker, Rose Woodruff, Betty Brenneman, Chris Gacek, and artist Mimi Peterson.
Please check back for more information about the coming EcoFest celebration on the Gateway Technical College Website. We
